- Crop Production Management and Site-Specific Precision
Farming Decision Support System
- A full-featured crop production record keeping and precision
farming decision support system.
- All the features in the FarmView Record Keeper and more.
- Crop production information at your fingertips: seeding,
fertilizer application, weed control, tillage, harvesting, other
field operations and livestock grazing information.
- Include air photos and maps. Add map layers
to an air photo image showing farm parcels (e.g.,quarter sections),
farm fields and farm management areas. Areas of all map
entities calculated for you.
- Prepare your crop management plan and budget at the beginning
of the year and calculate your profit/loss position as the
year progresses by farm field or by management area.
- Weather information and observations: last day
of frost (spring), first day of frost (fall), precipitation dates
and amounts, severe weather conditions (hail, snow, other).
- Enter crop production notes, comments and observations
linked to the appropriate field, soil sampling area, or management
area year after year.
- Use global positioning systems connectivity to locate
your field and farm management area features and boundaries.
- Calculate fertilizer application
rates for site-specific needs. Make fertilizer
application decisions considering the soil nutrie
nt level, the crop to be grown, target yield and
protein level, soil moisture, local weather records, and the
price of fertilizer.
- Include air photos and maps. Add map layers
showing soil landscape features, farm fields, farm management
areas and soil sampling areas. Enter information for several
farms for your farm clients. Calculate the land area (acres)
of each map entity.
- Economic analysis: Assess the economic benefit
of various cropping and fertilizer application decisions by calculating
the contribution margin (revenue available to contribute to fixed
costs and return on investment, labor and management) and profit/loss
position for each scenario.
- Maps of soil sampling areas as a guide to soil sampling:
area boundaries, point locations and soil sampling
guidelines.
- Maps of Soil Landscape Areas (SLAs) with associated attributes
and landscape features: area boundaries, wetness, topsoil
depth and texture, subsoil conditions, salinity, erosion, surface
form and relief, slope class and other soil and landscape characteristics
and features.
- Fertilizer blending calculations: Select farm
fields or farm management areas, nutrient application rates and
grades of fertilizer to be blended. Calculate the cost
of the final blend using your price data.
- Analyze data from GPS and yield monitors. Create
a yield map or profit/loss map using your air photos as a backdrop.
- Store soil sampling data and automate communication with
a soil testing laboratory. Prepare laboratory instructions,
print lab instruction forms, transfer instructions to the lab
and receive lab results by paper copy, computer disk or by modem.
- Print reports and maps: soil landscape areas,
soil sampling areas, laboratory instructions, laboratory results,
fertilizer blending calculations, fertilizer requirements and
costs, fertilizer recommendations and economic analysis results.
- View soil sampling data and soil landscape features on
a map overlay on an air photo image.
- Use global positioning systems connectivity to record
point data and locations (e.g., weed observations and soil sampling
points) and to locate soil landscape, field and farm management
area features and boundaries.
